CM certification embodies a commitment to life-long learning in order to stay current on ever changing management practices. As such, Certified Managers are required to recertify in order to continue to use the CM credential.
Recertification is accomplished by meeting two requirements:
At the end of the three-year renewal period each CM is required to report 45 professional development units (PDUs). ICPM encourages Certified Managers to participate in a variety of different activities to earn the required PDUs. For more details, download the CM Recertification Handbook.
Recertification is accomplished online through the ICPM website. A CM simply needs to log on to his or her ICPM account to pay recertification fees. Every third year a CM should complete the CM Recertification Report form online, by clicking on the "CM Recertification Report" tab.
All CMs must recertify. Initial CM certification is current for 3 years. CMs are responsible for paying recertification fees beginning one year after their initial certification date, as shown on their CM certificate, and annually thereafter. CMs are also responsible for reporting 45 PDUs beginning 3 years after their initial certification date, and every 3 years thereafter.
For example, a CM who attains initial certification on June, 16 2015 is responsible for paying a $50 recertification fee for the first time on June 16, 2016 and for reporting 45 PDUs for the first time by June 16, 2018.
Retired CMs are released from the responsibility of recertifying upon notifying ICPM of their retirement date. Retired CMs continue to receive ICPM communications and may continue to use the CM credential. If you are recently retired or will retire within the year, please contact ICPM at email@example.com to notify us of your change in status. Also, be sure to update your CM online profile to reflect any change in mailing address or email address.
Certified Managers are required to complete 45 management or leadership-related professional development units (PDUs) during the three-year renewal period. PDUs may be earned in many ways. ICPM encourages Certified Managers to participate in a variety of different activities to earn the required PDUs.

A Certified Manager's certification is considered to be either current or lapsed.
CM certification will be considered current if the CM is within his or her first year of certification, or is up-to-date with respect to payment of annual recertification fees and reporting PDUs.
CM certification will be considered lapsed if the CM is not up-to-date with respect to payment of annual recertification fees or reporting PDUs. CMs who have allowed their certification to lapse should discontinue use of the CM credential, as per the CM Credential Use Statement.
CMs who allow their certification to lapse may become current by paying a $75 reinstatement fee and the current year's annual fees. Reinstatement will begin a new three-year renewal period.
Thank you for submitting your professional development form for the CM recertification. ICPM will be reviewing your PD form and will contact you if any further information is required. To complete the process, please be sure to pay your $50 recertification fee, if you have not done so already.
Your professional development is ICPM's number on priority, therefore, do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
