Bob Jalio receives Certified Manager of the Year Award
June 24, 2010 - The Institute of Certified Professional Managers recently announced the recipients of the 2010 ICPM Recognition Awards.
Missiles and Fire Control Orlando Production, Planning and Control site lead, Bob Jalio, is this year’s Certified Manager of the Year. Bob was selected for this award for his outstanding commitment to leadership, continuous professional education and organizational contributions.
Founded in 1974 by the National Management Association and the International Management Council, the ICPM has a 35-year history of educating managers, supervisors and leaders through the CM certification program. The institute has over 10,000 active members located in the US and abroad. The CM program certifies a level of management competency which supports enhanced on-the-job performance. The ICPM Board of Regents is the governing body for the organization and three Lockheed Martin employees currently serve on the Board. ICPM is a business center of the College of Business at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA.
With 25 years of service at Lockheed Martin, Bob embraces all Full Spectrum Leadership imperatives that drive outstanding business results and promote employee development. He not only strives to create a positive and inclusive environment where people can excel, but he also goes above and beyond to ensure career advancement.
Bob is an active member of the Association for Operations Management (APICS) and was selected to be the Q3 President. He acquired budget for on-site Operations Management training for PP&C employees including 80 hours of instruction, text books and testing material. Bob also sponsors extensive job-specific training and initiated a series called "Body of Knowledge,” where PP&C employees can collaborate, transfer knowledge and learn best practices.
Bob has a hands-on approach to management and has daily, open communication with his entire staff. As a strong advocate for the mentoring program at Lockheed, Bob formally mentors three managers both on and off site. He is dedicated to his employees by having an open-door policy and provides regular guidance on career advancement within his organization.
"It is reassuring to have a member of our team be recognized by an outside organization that mirrors our Full Spectrum Leadership imperatives,” said Patrick Sunderlin, Director and Deputy VP of Operations.
Bob not only has an effective leadership style, but he also models personal excellence year after year. With perfect attendance in 2009 and active community service participation, Bob does more than lead a group—he serves as a prime example of what a Full Spectrum Leader should be. Bob is a leader we can count on to meet organizational goals and customer demands, but doing so in a way that inspires and attracts a world-class workforce for today and for the future.
