Recertification
About CM Recertification

Certified Managers are required to recertify annually to maintain a high level of performance and retain the right to use the CMTM professional credential.

Recertification Process
To recertify, CMs must log on to the ICPM website and complete these 3 steps by February 28th of each year:
  1. Agree to abide by the CM Credential Use Statement
  2. Agree to abide by the ICPM Code of Ethics
  3. Pay a $50 professional fee
In addition, CMs must complete 4 Professional Development (PD) activities throughout the course of the year and record them on their CM directory profile.
Professional Fees
The $50 professional fee must be paid in US funds by credit card, check, or US money order. Wire transfers and Bahamas Postal Money Orders are NOT accepted.
Benefits of Recertification
  • Management World – ICPM’s online journal
  • The Certified Letter – ICPM’s online newsletter
  • Access to exclusive ICPM website content, including:
    • A profile in the CM Directory
    • Private social networking
    • Secure online file storage
    • Personal photo galleries
    • Messaging
    • Membership in private groups
    • Connect to other social networks

Lapsed Recertification
CMs who fail to recertify annually lose their current CM status and the ability to use the professional "CM” credential. To bring a lapsed certification current, a CM must pay past due professional fees plus a $75 reinstatement fee.

Professional Development Activities
The PD requirement is based on actual activities completed during the recertification year. Hours expended in an activity are not relevant, as long as the results are meaningful. All qualifying PD activities must develop business, management and/or leadership skills.

CMs must complete a minimum of 4 PD activities annually. At least 1 activity must be completed in each of the 3 categories shown below.
Coursework
  • conferences
  • workshops, seminars, or in-house training
  • distance or e-learning
  • other certifications
  • college courses
Self Development

  • business reading - books, journals, newsletters, blogs
  • Management World + PDEs

Random audits by ICPM staff are conducted at year's end to verify compliance.  Accordingly, CMs should retain a personal file of documentation to support completion of their PD activities.
