Determining Eligibility

To determine your Eligibility status, calculate your Education and Experience points according to the chart below and add them together. Based on your total number of eligibility points you may qualify to take the certification exams as a Certified Manager (CM) or an Associate Certified Manager (ACM).

To qualify for CM status an applicant needs a minimum of 3 Education points, 4 Experience points, and a combined total of 10 points.

Applicants with fewer than 10 total points may participate in the CM program if they have a minimum of 3 Education points OR 4 Experience points. These applicants will earn ACM status upon passing the CM exams and may earn full CM status through additional education and/or experience.

Education points
High School graduation (or equivalent): 1 point
College Education: 1 point per year completed; ½ point per ½ year completed
Other certifications (maximum = 2): 1 point each
Management Training: 1 point per 40 hours completed
Experience points
Full-time work or military service:
Management/leadership position: 1 point per year
Non-management/leadership position: ½ point per year
Part-time work or military service:  
Management/leadership position: ½ point per year
Non-management/leadership position: ¼ point per year
