About Certified Manager (CM®) Certification

The CM is a general management certification for managers in any industry and a reliable indicator of managerial competence and leadership potential. The CM credential is earned by meeting eligibility requirements for education and experience and passing 3 challenging examinations. The program can be completed anywhere in the world in any of several study formats.

The CM program consists of 3 CM course modules - Management Skills I: Foundations of Management, Management Skills II: Planning and Organizing, and Management Skills III: Leading and Controlling. Each includes a study manual, e-Learning resources, practice exams and a certification exam. Each exam covers the content of the study manual of the same name.

To earn the CM certification one must pass all three certification exams. Successful completion of the CM exams is a reliable indicator that an individual possesses the skills that leaders and managers need.

Applications are submitted online. To be approved, a candidate must agree to abide by the ICPM Code of Ethics and meet eligibility standards. Eligibility for the CM certification is determined by a point system that considers both experience and education. Approved applicants have a maximum of 15 months in which to pass the CM exams.

Two payment options are available. Certification costs may be split into 3 equal payments, or save over $50 by purchasing the CM Bundle.

Each year ICPM awards several scholarships to eligible applicants interested in enhancing their managerial skills and increasing their professional recognition with the CM® Certification. Recipients are chosen based on merit, rather than financial need.

Three programs provide financial assistance to qualifying active duty and former US military personnel and their families:

• The Navy's Credentialing Program Office/Navy COOL provides payment assistance to active-duty Naval personnel.
• The Post 9/11 G.I. Bill provides tuition reimbursement to active duty personnel, veterans, and their family members.
• The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts Program (MyCAA) helps military spouses pursue licenses, certificates, certifications or Associate's Degrees.
