CM Program Eligibility and Application

Program Eligibility
Congratulations on choosing to pursue the Certified Manager (CM) certification! The first step in this process is determining your eligibility to take the CM certification exams online.
 
Eligibility is determined by a point system based on (1) Education and (2) Experience. To be eligible for certification as a CM, an applicant must meet the minimum standards in both areas and have at least 10 total points.

Maximum number of Education points allowed = 6
Minimum number of Experience points = 4
Maximum number of Experience points allowed = 7
Documentation
All eligibility points must be documented. Digital copies of supporting documentation should be obtained and uploaded as part of the application process.
• Education points may be documented with transcripts, diplomas, and/or certificates of completion.
• Experience points should be documented by signed reference statements.
• If you are self-employed or a previous employer has gone out of business a rèsumè will be accepted in place of a reference statement.
• U.S. military service should be documented by a form DD214 or Statement of Service, whichever is appropriate.
Eligibility Levels
Based on your total number of Education and Experience points you may qualify to take the certification exams as a Certified Manager or Associate Certified Manager.
Certified Manager (CM) status:
Applicants with at least 3 Education points, at least 4 Experience points and a combined total of 10 or more points are qualified to become a CM upon completing the program.
Associate Certified Manager (ACM) status:
Applicants who meet at least one of the minimum eligibility requirements, but have fewer than 10 total points may participate in the CM Program and become an ACM upon completion. An ACM may earn full CM status through additional education and/or experience.
Application Review and Time Limit
Applications may be filed any time online, and are reviewed every Tuesday and Thursday. Applicants will be notified of their eligibility status by email within 5 business days.
 
Approved applicants are allowed a maximum of 15 months to complete the CM Program. Those who exceed this time limit may renew  their application for an additional 12 months by paying a $75 fee.
